Our Beliefs

We believe that the Bible, both Old Testament (39 books) and New Testament (27 books), is the divinely-inspired written Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and we accept these Scriptures in their entirety as the supreme and final authority for all matters of Christian faith and practice.  (2 Timothy 3: 16-17  2 Peter 1: 20-21)

We believe in the existence of one God in three Persons - the Father. the Son, and the Holy Spirit - who is everlasting and unchanging.  (Deuteronomy 6: 4 Genesis 1: 2,26  John 1: 1-2  2 Corinthians 13: 14  Hebrews 1: 1-3, 8)

We believe in God the Father who is sovereign, eternal, and perfect.  (Psalm 95: 3-5 Isaiah 40: 28  Matthew 5: 48)

We believe that the Son of God, who is Himself God, without any loss of His essential deity, became the man Jesus Christ through the activity of the Holy Spirit and through the virgin birth. We believe that He lived as a man without sin, that He died on the cross as a perfect and complete sacrifice, that He rose bodily from the dead, and that He ascended into heaven where He is now seated at the Father’s right hand interceding as the believers’ eternal high priest.  (Matthew 1: 18-25  Luke 1: 26-35  John 1: 1-18  Luke 2:5 2  Matthew 2  7: 27-37  Luke 24: 1-43  Acts 1: 9  Mark 16: 19  Philippians 2: 5-11  Hebrews 9: 11-15)

We believe that the Holy Spirit, who is Himself God, is present in the world to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict people of their sin and need for the Saviour, to lead them to repentance, to regenerate and indwell those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and to guarantee them their eternal inheritance. We also believe that the indwelling Holy Spirit seeks to enable each believer to live   22-24  Romans 5: 1-11  Romans 6:23  1 Corinthians 15: 1-8  Ephesians 2: 8-9)

We believe that there must be repentance towards God and the confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to personally experience salvation.  (Acts 2: 37-38  Romans 10: 9)

We believe in one holy universal Church composed of all such persons who, through faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are therefore united together as the Body of Christ, of which He is the head. We also believe that the local church is an expression of the Body of Christ, appropriate for that particular locality and that particular time.  (Matthew 16: 16-18 1  Corinthians 12: 13,27  Ephesians 1:2 2-23  Act 2: 4 1-47)

We believe that the immersion in water of those who have repented and believed, in response to the example and command of the Lord Jesus Christ, is a symbol of sharing in His death, burial, and resurrection.  (Matthew 3: 13-17  28: 18-20  Romans 6: 3-5)

We believe that the communion of the Lord’s Supper, celebrated in response to the example and command of the Lord Jesus Christ, is a memorial, until He comes again, of the sacrifice of the body and blood of Jesus Christ.  (Mark 14: 17-25 1  Corinthians 11: 23-26)

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the personal glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the subsequent judgment of all people by Him.  (1 Corinthians 15: 20-28  1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18  Revelation 19: 11-16  Revelation 20: 11-15)
